ISO 9001 Document Quality Management, The SharePoint OOTB Way

ISO 9001 for document quality management is alive and well in South Africa, specifically in top-end engineering and financial companies where sometimes lives of people depend on the quality of documents produced. Satisfying and implementing the requirements of the ISO 9001 standard is a significant undertaking and requires the support of the entire organisation, the intent of this session is to describe how SharePoint can be used as a tool during this undertaking, specifically in satisfying the requirements stated in Section 7.5 Documented Information

A Journey to Infinity & Beyond with Nintex

Technology comes in different flavours, and in today’s tech world; things are constantly changing, and one might experience the frustration of feeling like a chameleon in a Smarties box. Change is the only constant, but being a chameleon in a Smarties box might not be a bad thing after all. In this session, we will share with you how simple it is to adapt to the digital jungle; as I take you on a journey to infinity and beyond with Nintex.. buckle up!

The Digital World needs a Digital Workplace

The world has changed, it’s 2017 and it is time for your workplace to catch up. Devices outnumber people 6 to 1 and that number is growing every year. The world has gone digital and benefited from it greatly and your business can do the same. In 2016, Microsoft released multiple tools to make your move to the Digital Workplace a reality, but how do those tools work together to build the digital workplace? This Keynote will take you on a journey to see what your digital workplace could look like with the help of Office 365.

What’s New in SharePoint 2016 for Business Users

SharePoint 2016 is out and it's packed with great features for both end users, and IT Professionals. In this session, we will look at all the benefits and new features SharePoint 2016 brings to business users. We will look at Durable Links, Data Loss Prevention, Hybrid Cloud Search and more!

Three Must-Have SharePoint Workflows with SharePoint Designer

Process automation is one of the most wanted benefits that SharePoint offers. In this session, we will look at three must have workflows for SharePoint by using SharePoint Designer as well as a lot of useful tips and tricks that can be used in any SharePoint 2010, SharePoint 2013, SharePoint 2016 or SharePoint Online deployment.

Automate Your Business Processes with Tools From Today and Tomorrow

One of the big advantages of implementing SharePoint in the enterprise is process automation. By using Out of the box workflows as well as easy to create custom SharePoint Designer Workflows, Power Users are able to automate processes, avoid repetitive tasks, and boost team productivity.  Furthermore, new tools such as Flow and PowerApps which are exclusive to Office 365 at the moment allow you to easily create workflow and forms, and integrate SharePoint with other systems.

In this full-day workshop, you will learn how to use SharePoint Designer, Flow and PowerApps to automate your business processes in SharePoint On-Premises and SharePoint Online. Learn how to create SharePoint Designer Workflows to automate business processes in SharePoint On-Premises, or SharePoint Online; see real-life demos of cool workflows made easy and learn about PowerApps and Flow, the latest and greatest tools developed by Microsoft to help you automate business processes.

Digital Disruption at Omnia

Digital Transformation has and is continuing to happen at Omnia. Throughout the journey to Office 365, SharePoint 2016, Power BI, Dynamics 365 and a full Microsoft Dynamics AX implementation, it takes time to influence the business. More than 2300 users generating massive amounts of content, collaborating, driving growth and focusing on saving money wherever possible, how do you get the value out of a Digital Transformation program?

What Everyone Needs to Know to Drive Business Change and Technology Adoption in the Digital Workplace

There’s no such thing as a technology project, there are only technology enabled business change projects.  It should come as no surprise therefore that change and technology adoption are often cited as one of the key challenges in Digital Workplace, SharePoint and Office365 related projects.

This session for CxO’s, project managers, business analysts, and anyone with an interest in ensuring that investments in the Microsoft productivity suite deliver the intended value.   The session will explore the REAL reasons why so many organisations struggle with business change and technology adoption, share the lessons learned from successful initiatives in world class organisations, and reveal the secrets of some of the world’s leading consulting organisations, including Microsoft’s new Global Adoption and Change practice.

Going beyond the shallow rhetoric this session brings a fresh perspective and delivers a practical framework based on research and experience which will guarantee that “user adoption” isn’t a problem which undermines your projects.

Reimagining Work: Microsoft’s Vision for the Digital Workplace

In this era of the fourth industrial revolution almost every business initiative has a technology component, every work process includes digital duties, and personal technology is ubiquitous.  Technology and the ways in which people organise and get work done have become so fundamentally entangled that it no longer makes any sense to talk about one without the other.  The digital workplace is a business strategy which recognises the workplace as a strategic asset and aligns management approaches to people, technology and the physical environment to create engaging and inspiring employee experiences which foster productivity, innovation and creativity.

In this keynote presentation you’ll hear how empowering employees through the digital workplace is central to Microsoft’s mission to empower every organisation and individual on the planet to achieve more, and is a core tenant of our approach to digital business transformation.  We’ll explore the evolution of the workplace and workplace technology, examine the state of the art and how world class organisations are reimagining the workplace, and we’ll reveal Microsoft’s vision for the workplace and the future of work based on the three bold ambitions to build the intelligent cloud, make computing more personal, and to reinvent productivity and business processes.

Why Hybrid Equals Coexistence Going Forward

Microsoft has laid out a landscape full of choices whereby companies can take advantage of the best available technology in the locale that is best for their specific needs. This means that a state of on-premise and Cloud coexistence is going to be a big part of our future.

In this session you will learn about the new landscape and how companies both large and small can take advantage of all the features that Office 365, Azure, and SharePoint 2016 bring to the table.

What’s New in the World of SharePoint & Office 365 (This Month)

Is SharePoint’s breaking news breaking you? Having trouble keeping up with what is going where with all of the new features that are rolling out to SharePoint & Office 365? Join us for a group therapy… er… Tech Briefing on what’s new in the world of SharePoint & Office 365.  This keynote will provide demos of a few new & nifty things and will discuss what has changed recently in the world of Office 365 & SharePoint.  You never know what is going to be happening in the fast paced, Cloud First world of the Microsoft Collaboration space between when this abstract was written and the date of this event, so come get your learn on!

Migration in the Real World: A Cautionary Tale of Success

Migration is a dirty, dirty word. When people hear the word, they cringe and shudder. There are people would rather have 8 root canals at once than live through another migration. There seems to be hope for people with Office 365, but how do you get there without all the pain and suffering?  Why would you do it?

Learn from real world experiences from the field about how companies, both large and small, have made the shift to Office 365 and Hybrid Estates. Leave this session with tips and tricks that will help you be successful with you next, and hopefully last, migration.

Everything You Wanted to Know About Power BI (But Were Afraid to Ask)

Power BI is the gold standard for cloud-based report delivery. It's very approachable - you can get up and running with it in minutes, but it's also very robust, secure and extensible. As you might expect, it has many pieces and nuances, and it's important to understand what is possible, even if you may not take immediate advantage of some features, in order to understand what to use when.

This tutorial will help to guide you in building a complete analytical solution, using all the features of Power BI. We will start from nothing, and create queries that import and integrate data from many different sources. You will also learn how to refresh data using the on-premises data gateway and the personal gateway to connect to existing on-premises data from a variety of sources. In addition, you will see an overview the many other additional features available in Power BI.

At the end of this full-day workshop you will be ready to not only start using Power BI for your projects, but you will also understand which approach is best for different situations. Bring your questions, and we'll do our best to answer them.

Measuring Collaboration Success

Fostering better collaboration is the goal of modern computing and communication systems. Indeed, the line between computing and communication has become quite blurry in the past few years. However, do we really know what we mean by collaboration? If we do, do we know how to promote it and to check to see how well we're doing? What exactly is it that we need to measure, and what actions can be taken as a result of these measurements?

Measuring the success of collaborative systems can be a challenge due to the imprecise nature of these questions, and because of the technical complexities of the systems themselves. In this keynote, we will dive into these questions headfirst and attempt to glean some approaches to determine the value of our collaborative systems, and how to determine if we're having tangible success with them.

Understanding Office 365 Groups

One of the most important developments to have emerged in the Office 365 space in the last few years is Groups. The unfortunate thing is that Groups are probably one of the poorest understood things. Groups are central to the Office 365 experiencing, touching all of the core products in the stack - SharePoint, Exchange, Teams, Yammer, Planner and even Power BI. In some cases (Teams, Planner) Groups are essential for the use of these products.

What is unclear is how users interact with Groups. Each of the products have different ways of interacting with them, and in some cases managing them, and they all have different mobile experiences as well. This session will break down exactly what Groups are, and go into detail on how the various products interact with them. There are a tremendous number of productivity gains to be had with groups, and this session will help you understand how to realise them.

Mobilising Business Productivity

Why invest millions of Rands in business productivity solutions that employees only have access to for 8 hours a day when they are logged in at the office?

Digital transformation in the workplace is realised by including mobile as a primary channel of all your business productivity and reporting solutions.

These can be categorised into the main categories of: staff engagement solutions, mobile interface to strategic line of business systems and mobile reporting solutions, all of which will be discussed in this session.

The Ever-Changing Landscape of Information Management: Achieving Compliance without End User Burden

As the technology landscape rapidly changes, the practices and processes that are used to manage information must continuously evolve. Organisations can’t rely on traditional ways of managing information. They need to keep up with the pace and not be stuck in the old ways.

Let’s take a look at how far information management has come and where it’s heading – from traditional records management and document management to enterprise content management. This session will explore how you can continue to deliver business value to your organisation in an ever-changing industry.

We know that driving user adoption is key to information management success, but achieving this while balancing organisational requirements and IT tasks is an ever-mounting challenge. How can you achieve compliance by stealth? Alyssa Blackburn will showcase how to achieve compliance while meeting your organisation’s requirements with little to no impact to the end user.

Digital Workplace from Microsoft Services

The new generation of employees—that your business needs to attract, retain, and engage—will demand a fast-paced, technology-driven environment where creativity and independent thinking are encouraged.  Microsoft Services has developed key platforms and technologies for a growing number of organisations that seek to develop their digital workplace strategies to meet this expectation.  The Microsoft Services Digital Workplace Solution is designed to help you to evaluate your current environment and develop a vision and roadmap for your digital workplace implementation.

Communicating in the Digital Workplace

For centuries communications has been at the center point of our evolution and development as human. As we move into the age of digital transformation the way we communicate and the tools that we use to do so are the engine driving the modern digital workplace. Universal communications brings the ability to meet and collaborate anywhere, at any time and on any device hence eliminating the traditional delays that hampered productivity. Change the way you see communication in the workplace with Skype for Business

Employee Engagement is Dead, It’s Time to Look at Total Quality Management

Fresh off debating this topic on Business Day TV, Francois Pienaar will discuss how employers use a variety of techniques to improve quality and drive efficiency throughout the organisation.  Mint will also showcase practical examples of how their systems have made a difference at clients.

To Comply or Not to Comply?!

An explicit cloud policy is absent from the SA regulatory landscape. How can you make use of the Microsoft take on trusted computing, POPI and other legislation, in combination with an enterprise risk based approach to present an approach for organisational cloud migration.

Drag and Drop Integration? Yes, It’s That Easy!

K2 supports connectivity through REST, OData, Web services and .NET assemblies

What I Learnt Cycling Through Every Country in Africa

On the 30th of June 2013, after selling everything he owned, 20kg overweight, alone and unaided, and with no ‘adventure’ experience, Ron Rutland left Cape Town Stadium on his bicycle to fulfill a lifelong dream and embark on a world first - a single continuous journey through every country on mainland Africa.

42,000km, 841 days and 75 countries later, Ron arrived in Brighton, UK on the 17th of September 2015 in time to watch Japan beat the Springboks in their opening game of the Rugby World Cup… an historic end to a historic journey!

In his uniquely self-deprecating and humorous manner, Ron has inspired and motivated audiences in South Africa, and around the world, with his tales from the road, and what it took for the most ordinary and unlikely person to achieve something quite extraordinary. Drawing on his experiences from some of the most inhospitable environments on the planet, Ron shares the tangible ‘real life’ lessons he learnt chasing, and ultimately, reaching the most audacious goal imaginable.

I like Big Bots and I Cannot Lie

The world of productivity is changing, do not be fooled by complacency, your business is at risk from disruptive technology. This demo-based discussion will look at the realisation of the digital workplace and the exciting tools in place to embrace digital change.  We will unpack Azure offerings, Cortana, Skype, Teams, and how they tie into Office 365, productivity and change.  We will look at possibilities to enrich your business using the new machine learning platforms that have the potential to change the landscape of your business.

Office Anywhere

In this presentation we will look very practically at how Cloud computing and the new office toolsets (SharePoint, OneDrive, Planner, Groups, Yammer etc.) are changing the way we work as well as the impact on us as individuals and organisations entering this new world of work.

You will be taken through the journey and lessons learnt thus far that RMB and FirstRand have been on and are still on in implementing and upgrading to the new Office 365 toolsets in terms of: data and data migration – security and governance; people and change management; the mobile workforce, and how we bring this all together and look at the benefits in terms of human-computer interaction in our daily lives.

The Spar Journey to Office 365

SharePoint Online is a great platform allowing organizations to leverage the latest Microsoft has to offer in the Office365 ecosystem. It does however, present challenges for those with existing on-premise SharePoint installations looking to migrate to the cloud. The SPAR Group Ltd SA, uses SharePoint Online exclusively as its internal collaboration and productivity platform. Having gone through migrations from SharePoint 2010 to SharePoint 2013 and finally to SharePoint Online, we have made the transition successfully and learnt a lot along the way. This presentation will highlight the context within which SharePoint is employed inside SPAR, the critical success factors in the journey to the SharePoint Online platform, and elements that have influenced SharePoint adoption across the SPAR organisation.

Kickstart your Digital Transformation Journey with Office 365

Digital Transformation is the Meme of the moment in the Business Productivity World.

But where do you start and how can you get a quick turnaround on your Digital Transformation Journey, with what is in your O365 toolkit

This session will show, through demo’s and practical tips, how you can get your Digital Transformation Journey started when you leave the conference

Collaborating in the Digital Workplace

The saying goes that great collaboration is the key to success for teams and companies, however, in the world of technology today, what tools should we use and when? Join this session to hear views on when to use SharePoint, Yammer, Teams, or Groups. As well as what we can do with each of these tools. At the same time, see great examples of custom built tools on top of the technology that can enable your business to take the steps to Collaborating in the Digital Workplace.

Join the Digital Revolution and Become a Leader in the Information Age

In this session, we will discuss how work as we know it is being revolutionised. The organisations of the future are likely to be unrecognisable from the organisations we know today, and the way we engage with them will be radically different.

To stay competitive, executives, strategic decision-makers, managers and even employees require the capability to gauge and effect operational performance in real-time.

The future offers a number of exciting opportunities for individuals and organisations to embrace innovative tools, processes, workspaces and creative individuals that are focused on effective and outstanding product delivery.

Painting with Your Data – Made Simple with Microsoft’s Visualisation Tools

Microsoft offers a broad range of visualisation and reporting capabilities for your business, to deliver better insights to more users in a hybrid environment.

Stellenbosch University built on a platform that was familiar and integrated with tools people use daily. The result was a visualisation platform that provided insights to all, from more sources and offered strong self-service, sharing and dashboard capabilities.

Hear how this delivered better insights to more users at lower TCO and greater user adoption.

The MultiChoice Journey to Realising The Digital Workplace

Almost a year ago, I was still not 100% convinced of this Office 365 Platform that our business was moving toward. With the advances made on this platform, I invite you to join me as I take you on our (my) journey of how our company is transforming from an on-premise environment to the Office 365 mindset. Topics covered will include: architecting a SharePoint Online solution for a Multinational Organisation – understanding the big picture; engaging with business stakeholders to develop new solutions on Office 365; driving user adoption with the social and collaborative applications of Office 365 and lessons learnt with External User solutions

Demo’s will include a tour of our SharePoint Online Portal, Yammer and Microsoft Teams

Securing the Digital Workplace

We live in an ever-changing world where business needs and your employees’ needs for productivity challenge the security of your organisation’s data. Paired with an evolving threat landscape, your organisation must work harder than ever to stay ahead of the threats of tomorrow. In a world when you must assume your organisation is already breached, find out how to protect, detect and respond appropriately and with agility.

Getting Ready for the Digital Workplace

Realising the Digital Workplace involves much more than implementation of technologies, processes and new business models. Transformation projects can be complex and organisational habits difficult to change. This session discusses effective and innovative approaches to successfully driving digital transformation in organisations

Sticki – Embrace the Change: The Strategic Artistry Behind the Business Advantage Achieved through the Sticki User Adoption Program

In this session you will gain an understanding of leveraging your organisational elements to drive user adoption success. A new paradigm shifts change management and user adoption from optional to strategic.

Solutions are often introduced into workplaces with the intent of maximising productivity and easing the workload that end-users have endured. The objective is ultimately to ignite organisational potential that improve output speeds and the customer-of-the-customer experience.

However, in the background exists organisational culture impediments that have escaped strategic expectation, aligned empowerment and tactical capability.

Deciphering the Conundrum That is Out of the Box SharePoint Workflows

Workflows are intimidating at the best of times, in this session, you will be taken through all of the different Out of the Box SharePoint workflow possibilities each with its own demo to help you decipher the conundrum.

Your Intranet in Your Pocket – Creating a Personailised Intranet Experience That is Delivered to a Mobile Device

Creating a community of engaged colleagues is difficult when they don’t have the tools to engage or it difficult to find relevant information. When a user has to go somewhere and find something, it creates barriers to engagement, but if the information I need comes to me where I am, I am more likely to engage. This session will show you how to deliver the information you want to the device you my hand and what that could mean for business productivity.

Deconstructing Operational Business Intelligence in The Construction Business

"Creativity is intelligence having fun”. Through interactive graphics, charts, infograms and KPI’s we have deployed intelligence to the end-user community to have insight into business operations without looking at dull tables and matrices. The challenge is to use the best visualisation aimed at the right level to display the correct information. Construction information need not be all rows and columns.  It can be circles, hexagons, blobs and even triangles.  This session will give insight into thinking outside the cube to learn what is possible.

When Clouds Meet Earth – A Story of SharePoint, SAP and Nintex

So you’ve taken the decision to move to Cloud and now you need to onboard employees creating an Office 365 user for them. But you also need a SAP employee record and your SAP environment is still sitting on-premise. How do you integrate from the Cloud to on-premise? How do you run workflow that involves both systems? Can it really be done?

Come and join us for a live demo on what is truly possible and a conversation on what is theoretically possible.

Collaboration for the Mobile, Always On Workforce

Our businesses and teams are undergoing a digital transformation and legacy technology can’t support the needs of an anywhere, anytime, any device strategy.  This session is not about when to use what, but about how Office 365 groups and modern team sites enable you to leverage the best of Office 365 in concert to improve communication and collaboration to accelerate your digital workplace transformation.

Communicating Your Way to Success in an Ever-Changing Environment: Road Mapping to Governance and User Adoption

Challenged with evolving business priorities and a continuous stream of new product capabilities from Microsoft, great communication is more important than ever.   This keynote will offer tools and techniques to create capability roadmaps, technology standards, and governance and training sites to enable your users and help your business achieve communication and collaboration objectives in a digital workspace.
